Free2Network Business Awards Winners 2014

The Free2Network Business Awards 2013 took place on Friday 28th November 2014. The winners of all 11 awards are as follows:

Green Business of the Year,

Winner: Gecko Clothing.  Gecko Clothing is an online ecommerce site supplying ethical and environmentally friendly sourced and manufactured clothing. Also using recycled sheep poo paper for all their packaging and labels.

Saira Khan said: “They are truly an environmentally friendly business, even to the point of recycling sheep poo!”

Emma Davidson of Gecko Clothing said: “2014 has been a phenomenal year. To end it as the multi award winning Gecko Clothing being announced Free 2 Network Green Business of the Year is awesome!”

Rachel Elnaugh Enterprise Award,

Winner: Integral Life Centre. Integral Life Centre provides exceptional leadership training and mentoring. Based in Tremechion, Denbighshire.

Saira Khan said of Integral Life Centre: “They embraced the way they use the internet by adapting their business model to include online webinars, which contributes to 50% of their income.”

Ian McDonald owner of Integral Life Centre said: “It is always great to get recognition for what we are doing. The whole business world is evolving at a rapid rate and none of us can afford to ignore changes in technology which bring great opportunities.”

Social Responsibility Award, 

Winner: Tudno TV, providing commercial and promotional videos and photography, based in Mochdre Enterprise Park, Mochdre, Conwy.

Saira Khan said: “Tudno TV are truly a business for the community by providing videoing events for charity or community groups completely free of charge.”

Geoff Wiltshire, owner of Tudno TV said: “I get a lot of satisfaction from helping promote the charities and community groups that I work with and it was nice to be recognised for doing something that I truly enjoy.”

Entrepreneur of the Year, 

Winner: Alice Murray of Giggles and Games.  Based in Wrexham, Giggles and Games hire out giant games to corporate events as well as weddings and parties.

Saira choose Alice Murray ‘For demonstrating that you can really have it all by running a successful business as well as being a mum.’ Alice Murray, owner of Giggles and Games told her Facebook fans: “I’m excited, chuffed and humbled [to have won this award].”

Young Entrepreneur of the Year, 

Daniel Mould of Magpie Marketing. They are based on the Wirral and provide Facebook Advertising services to small business.

Saira said: “Promoting your business online is key to business success and Daniel has taken Facebook advertising to a new level.”

Daniel Mould said: “This is an amazing start for my business. It was especially rewarding to have won as it was one of my clients that nominated me – I didn’t even know I’d been entered for the awards until I was informed I was a finalist!”

Networking Person of the Year,

Susan Miller, All Words Matter.  Providing copywriting and proofreading services for both on and offline. Based in Mold, Flintshire

Saira said: “Susan is a true networker. She goes out of her way to help people and has made some fantastic connections just by chatting to people – exactly what networking is all about. Her nomination had Networker of the Year all over it.”

Susan Miller said: “I was absolutely gobsmacked when I was announced the winner! I do what I do as I love helping and connecting people. Being recognised for doing something I love is just fantastic.”

Leader of the Year,

Denise Lardner, Cleaner Care. A domestic and commercial cleaning company offering a 24 hour service, based in Conwy.

Saira said: "Denise has demonstrated an exceptional talent for leading a team of 50 people while growing the bottom line year on year."

On winning the award, Director of Cleaner Care, Denise Lardner said: “It’s a fantastic accolade to the people that have helped and supported me to grow my business over the past 10 years. 2014 has proven to be a great year for Cleaner Care and we have plans in place to make 2015 even better.”

Business Man of the Year,

Rich Brady of Recruit Packs.  Providing recruits to the Armed Services all the kit they need. Based in Denbigh, Denbighshire.

On announcing Rich Brady as the winner Saira said: "This is a really, really amazing business. In just seven months Recruit Packs are supplying 3% of the British Army, this is a brilliant achievement in such a short time."

Rich Brady said: “Being awarded Business Man of the Year is a great end to what’s been a brilliant year so far.”

Saira Khan Business Woman of the Year,

Sandra Donoghue of Propel Recruitment. Based in Denbigh, Propel Recruitment is an independently owned recruitment specialist, focusing on executive placements.

Saira Khan said: “Sandra has overcome enormous challenges. Her daughter was diagnosed with cancer only 18 months ago. Despite this, Sandra showed the drive and determination to push her business forward.”

Sandra Donoghue, owner of Propel Recruitment says: “This has been a really positive end to a tough year.  I’m absolutely delighted to have won as it means a lot to be recognised for all your hard work and achievements. The tougher it got [with my daughter’s illness] the more I needed to put efforts into my business. It was my way of coping with the emotional trauma I was going through at that time.”

New Business of the Year,

Winner: Barenaturals, an e-commerce business based in Beaconsfield, London who make and sell handmade, organic soaps, balms and hand creams. Their products are also available in many independent health shops as well as being exported to Europe.

Saira Khan said: “A business borne from being passionate about what they do. Truly natural products that help you look after your skin.”

Darcy Croft, Managing Director of Barenaturals said: “To win the award as Free2Network New Business of the Year is very motivating for all of us as creating and running the business is a lot of hard work so to be recognised is just brilliant.”

Business of the Year,

Winner: Fabian4 Online Entry, an online event entry service for global orienteering, biking, triathlon, fell racing, running and other events. Based in Brecon, Powys.

Saira Khan said:  “A business which started out being run from a laptop has consistently grown by an average of 59% each year for the past 8 years, & has great plans for its future. A truly remarkable achievement and a worthy winner.”

Ellie Salisbury of Fabian4 Online Entry said: “I’m totally overwhelmed that we won. I’ve never won anything before and it’s a fantastic feeling – I love it!”
